The form for Firstgiving can be found by clicking Here. The directions will be there to follow for TYC 2010 Regatta. Race For Hospice! Each year Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut requests our help. Therefore, Thames Yacht Club is sponsoring a Wednesday night race for all PHRF Boats, a Thursday night Force 5 race and an Opti and 420 race evening. How does this work? Each boat that wishes to be part of this wonderful program will donate the appropriate amount (see below) to enter into the Race for Hospice. Prior to the race, you can follow the attached "How to Create a Firstgiving Page to Raise Money for Hospice Southeastern Connecticut" to collect more money from your relatives and your friends. If you follow the directions and send out requests, it is amazing the amount of money you will collect for the Hospice organization. This will be the 3rd year that the Mudheads have supported Hospice of SECT and have raised Thousands of dollars. I feel strongly that TYC can make a big contribution too. The cost for your boat can be split between your crew or can be paid by the captain. It is all your choice as to how you enter. An entry from will be available at the club. And each of your crew can create their own account to collect money. The Wednesday night we have set aside for this is July 14, 2010. The cost for PHRF boats is $50.00. The Thursday night Force 5 date is July 15, 2010. The cost for Force 5 boats is $25.00. The sailing coach for Optis and 420s will decide on a date. The cost for an Opti is $25.00 and a 420 is $35.00. Entries and donations will be taken right up to the start of the race and can be given to me or to Judy Gibbs. Each boat that enters will receive a free T-Shirt, which will also be on sale after the race.If any member has any ideas to further help raise money, e.g. donate a raffle item, please let me know. Now if you don't have a boat and still wish to give to this program or collect via the Firstgiving Page, you can follow the same process. Thames Yacht Club will be notified as to how much our club collected. Last year I raised the largest amount and received a beautiful poster painted and signed by Willard Bond. I was so excited that I decided to help Judy Gibbs, who is the Regatta Chairperson for Hospice Southeastern Connecticut. Each and everyone of us has experienced the need of the Hospice organization and know the work they perform. Have fun with this and help them at the same time. Thank you, Jackie Fisher |
